Australian Tibetan Buddhist Centre Mission Statement

ATBC is dedicated to the new comer, serious study and personal practice of the original teachings of Buddha, as well as the Nalanda Indian Masters and Lama Tsong Karpa's Lineage teachings. The centre was established by Geshe Ngawang Gedun under the spiritual direction of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Centre is staffed by volunteers and offers a wide range of programs for spiritually minded students of all levels, from beginners to the more advance. We welcome all new comers and all the teachings are offered without charge by qualified teachers experienced in the Authentic Tibetan Tradition.

The purpose of the Centre is to provide thorough, accurate Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy and Meditation to anyone interested. As a result of completing full Buddhist studies Geshe Ngawang Gedun has taught in Australia since 1995 till now and America since 2001.

"I always believe everyone wants happiness; nobody wants to suffer. Many problems around us are caused by our mental projection of certain negative or unpleasant things. If we investigate our mental attitude, we may find it quite unbearable. Therefore I always believe a balanced mind is very useful to remove our mental pain or suffering. With good health and a steady mind, we will enjoy our life and bring more peace in our daily life also. Without mental peace one cannot be happy. For example, many rich people have mental illness, why is that? Because of a lack of mindfulness, calmness of mind and lack of inner mental stability, as they may feel there is no reason to suffer as from a materialistic viewpoint they have everything.

I always believe mental happiness is more superior than physical happiness. From my sixteen years experience in Western society, I really want to achieve the goal of bringing peaceful, calmness of mind to Western people. Therefore, I am here to share some of my own experience of mental to happiness to the West. This is my main ambition. To teach the Dharma to as many people as possible.
Lastly, Thank you and welcome to anyone". Geshe Ngawang Gedun
